ROBERT MEE SIAM LONG TONG
I'm not a particular fan of long tong, but this one is really good. Other long tong i've eaten were not as nice, with the glutinous rice too hard. Which brings me to Robert's long tong. I see many tubs of hand-made glutinous rice at his stall. He would usually get half of whats in the tub out and slice them into the nice portions we see in the bowl he serves. He uses a thin string to slice the glutinous rice, i guess it plays a part in his dish too. Topped of with his special curry sauce, which is not too spicy yet the flavour and smooth texture is still there, and not forgetting curry cabbage and long beans(which are so soft!). All this makes up Robert's special long tong which keeps customers returning once they've sampled some! Speaking of customers, there's ALWAYS a long queue, so you can't miss the stall(:
Next, we have Robert's mee siam. Yes, this is the other dish which has kept customers rolling in all these years. In the early hours of dawn, his wife would be there to mix in the chilli sauce with the bee hoon which gives the mee siam its distinctive bright orange bee hoon. With a big pot of the delectable mee siam soup by his side, he would scoop out this concoction of spices into the bowl of bee hoon, then top it off with diced tau pok and chives and WALA! Mee Siam! Simple yet soooooooooo delicious! All these goodness for only $2 each! He didnt raise the price despite moving to a new location! Must support!

WHAMPOA BBQ SEAFOOD CHICKEN WING
This stall is only opened in the evening, about 5pm. They sell BBQ chicken wings that are DELICIOUS!!!! Before even reaching the stall, one can already smell the wings. It's succulent and juicy, with minimal fat still in it, after being left to BBQ. That's the magic of barbecuing food. The oil drips out while cooking, and the charcoal sustaining the flames gives the wings a unique scent. I have no idea what the owner marinates the chicken with, all i see is him standing beside numerous skewers, with about a dozen chicken wings on each, turning them until cooked to perfection of golden crisp brown. Of course, without his homemade chilli sauce, the whole meal would be very different! But i must warn you, the chilli sauce is not for the faint-hearted. It's SUPER spicy and a little tangy. NICE. He also sells crabs and cockles. They should be good to, coz i see many eating it. You must buy a minimum of two wings, each $1.20. This is a definite DIE DIE MUST TRY!

DONUT FACTORY
The donuts from Donut Factory are one of the top DIE DIE MUST TRYs in my list of good food. Whenever i get the chance, i'll buy them. They're so darn good! What makes the donuts unique from the rest is the dough. It's especially soft and light, along with the many flavours available, this combination of icing and dough is certainly one of the best so far. With about 18 flavours up for grabs, there's definitely something for everyone! Okay i'm too lazy to type the flavours out so kindly refer to their homepage http://donutfactory.com.sg/ (;
My favourite flavours are Double chocolate and Orange white chocolate, although i'll eat just about any flavour you buy. Currently there are three Donut Factorys in Singapore. One in Suntec, Raffles City and in Novena Velocity. There usually a queue, a LONG one, probably due to the fact that their customers can't decide whic flavours to buy! It's more worth it to buy the donuts as a group, with your friends. That's what i do(: You could choose to have your donuts there too. I think they sell icecream and drinks too. Gonna try it when i can.
LOCATION: http://donutfactory.com.sg/ It's probably better that you go to their website. Have a good look at the menue and have in mind what you want. It'll help speed things up when you're there.

WHAMPOA AH LIM YOU TIAO
This is one of Singaporean's favourite breakfast. Its simple to eat, crispy, and OILY! Yes its these few deep fried batters that has made breakfast in Singapore so different from the rest!
First off is the salted bun. Round, golden with a swirl of (if i'm not mistaken) salty red bean paste, deep fried goodness! Usually i would tear the bun into smaller bite size pieces to eat. I would say that this is the least oily of the three. One piece cost 60 cents.
Next, we have the butterfly bun! I like this the most. I suppose the name came from its shape, which looks a little like a butterfly, with two wings. This golden deep fried butterfly bun is sweet compared to its deep fried companions. The dough is first sprinkled with sesame seeds and a little sugar is added before deep frying.
Last of all, one of Singapore's favourite, the You Tiao which translate to "oily strip"(haha) or You Zha Gue. This long golden brown You Tiao, which comes in a pair, is ideal for dipping in coffee, or eaten with soy beancurd. Its porous interior allows it to soak up liquid very effectively and the reason why i like going to this stall in Whampoa Market is because the exterior would remain quite crispy after dipping. You tiao is also used in other dishes like, rojak and congee.
The stall specializes only in these three deep fried goodies and business is always good. Open only in the morning, there's usually two men there, one preparing the dough, one frying it. They work fast, take orders fast too, so there's usually no queue. each cost 60 cents.

NURILAH MALAY FOOD
This is one of my favorite dishes when i come to Whampoa Market and Food centre. Nurilah Malay Food, as the stall name suggests, sells local malay dishes , but they specialise in nasi lemak and mee rebus . I prefer eating the mee rebus when i go there. Noodles topped with thick curry sauce, a squeeze of lime, dash of small dried shrimp, a sprinkle of fried onions, spring onions and green chilli, along with their homemade chilli sauce and a hard boil egg (catches breath) , its something you you must try! Only for $2.50!!!!
Of course, you could always try their nasi lemak (which i will try my best to get a photo of) which boasts a wide variety of side dishes. It could be just the lighting but then again, it could be that the food just looks so darn appetizing. Depending on the number of side dishes you other, the price should range from $2.50 to $4. Its usually $3 though. Another thing you can try is their homemade currypuff. I can't remember the price but i know it's less than a dollar each! Their not bad, comes either in tuna flavour or just plain curry potato. I see office workers buying the whole basket when they stop by.

BUGIS ST CHUEN CHUEN CHICKEN RICE
I eat this for lunch almost everytime i visit Long House. Usually, I would order a plate of roasted chicken breast rice, $3 , which is very reasonable. The serving they give is larger compared to those in Food courts where prices can go up to $3+ or serve smaller portions for the same price. I've tried both the white and roasted chicken, and both taste very good- tender, juicy, succulent....YUM. Furthermore it's not very oily. I've ordered the set meal before and it costs $4.80. If you're looking for something that will really fill you up, then this is it. The set meal comes with additional plate of vege, either bean sprouts ( HUGE serving ) or Kai lan.
LOCATION: Long House #01-06 183 Upper Thomson Road
(It's quite easy to spot if you drive up Upper Thomson Road. There's a huge neon light sign with "LONG HOUSE" written on it. Can't miss it.)
