ROBERT MEE SIAM LONG TONG
I'm not a particular fan of long tong, but this one is really good. Other long tong i've eaten were not as nice, with the glutinous rice too hard. Which brings me to Robert's long tong. I see many tubs of hand-made glutinous rice at his stall. He would usually get half of whats in the tub out and slice them into the nice portions we see in the bowl he serves. He uses a thin string to slice the glutinous rice, i guess it plays a part in his dish too. Topped of with his special curry sauce, which is not too spicy yet the flavour and smooth texture is still there, and not forgetting curry cabbage and long beans(which are so soft!). All this makes up Robert's special long tong which keeps customers returning once they've sampled some! Speaking of customers, there's ALWAYS a long queue, so you can't miss the stall(:
Next, we have Robert's mee siam. Yes, this is the other dish which has kept customers rolling in all these years. In the early hours of dawn, his wife would be there to mix in the chilli sauce with the bee hoon which gives the mee siam its distinctive bright orange bee hoon. With a big pot of the delectable mee siam soup by his side, he would scoop out this concoction of spices into the bowl of bee hoon, then top it off with diced tau pok and chives and WALA! Mee Siam! Simple yet soooooooooo delicious! All these goodness for only $2 each! He didnt raise the price despite moving to a new location! Must support!
